Any updates?

Also, did you ever replace the plexiglass top with a glass one?

TF: I'm well overdue for an update. I ended up kinda neglecting the tank for a few weeks due to vacation and being a bit overworked lately. I basically cut off all dosing shortly after I hacked most of the moss out, what I left in the tank died off. So I got in there and removed all of the taiwan moss and cleaned the nice patches of algae that were growing everywhere. Its back on track now with some new moss and fissiden fontanus on the upward reaching piece of wood. I'll get around to doing a picture update as soon as I can. June-August are my busiest months of the year so work is taking a lot out of me at the moment.

I'm still rocking the plexiglass top, I just flip it at water changes so it bows the other way. :P I broke 3 nice pieces of glass trying to cut a new top and gave up. Square = real easy, hex = not so easy.

Default just a wee update

Since its been so long since I've even had a chance to log on let alone post anything I figured I'd snap a few new pics of the tank/betta to update.
I've kinda been letting things go a bit in the tank and since its low light low tech its just been a matter of hacking out wisteria and replanting tops a few times.

Still got a spot of GSA lurking from the vacation+ neglect but its righting itself as I get the dosing back on schedule. The fissidens isn't doing so great but I imagine its still adjusting to the PH and temp.

Its hard to get a good shot of Howard even though he's really curious of the camera.

Tank looks real nice!

What is in your filter? Looks like foam, foam, then bio stuff...
Or is it just foam, bio stuff?

I went open top on mine

Its just 2 Foams + the bio cylinders. Now that I use a sponge filter on the intake I rarely clean the internal filtration. Maybe once every few months.

This tank is due for a big change soon.

I'd totally live to go open top on mine too TF. But the betta was special ordered and ended up costing a small fortune to get here from Thailand... I only cringe thinking of loosing him to jumping.
I finally got around to cleaning up and re-arranging the tank, it was really nasty in there. :O What little bit of maintenance time that I've had over the past several months has been going to the 20 gallon and it showed. I basically ripped everything out and did a good deep gravel vaccum and re-planted.
I added 5 espei Rasboras... it just seemed so empty after taking out the plants. Also added a mystery snail, doesn't look like Howard likes him though.
Pretty much just rearranged the hardscape to show the java fern thats been nested in there... just been hiding in the back. Took out all of the Wisteria.

A few new photos

And one I managed to get of Howard:

whoa. You really did clean house. I personally liked it when it was really grown in. But it still does look quite nice. I bet it looks awesome with a little school of rasboras and a nice betta swimming around in that hex .

I agree, I would love to see an update with this tank

It was amazing looking all filled in and still looks great after cleaning a lot of the stuff out of there.
