hmmm... ok. I get this. This is a great idea and I can easily see that it would work, and work well. However, how do I do this if I have one of the Koralia powerheads? The intake is sort of global (no intake tube, just the whole powerhead surrounded in slots) and the output is really quite wide...

I don't think that is would work too well for me unfortunately .

and I may have an idea for you to consider- if you took a small gravel siphon and removed the hose, you could seal that end with silicon and then have your powerhead run into the open end and have your holes drilled into the side. It'd be clear and aquarium friendly and easy to find . Just an option .

Hi Ishar, have you seen a DIY PVC Reactor? They are pretty cool and it keeps stuff out of the tank. I have pictures if you would like to see one..LMK

I have seen the outsides of them on the net from Rex's site, but they look enormous and sort of complicated... I don't know. I would still like to implement my diffuser though lol. I'd hate to buy it to put it into a box for storage

They are quite large 22-25"+. They work well and I can build one from start to finish in 5 minutes. There is also the Cal Aqua Labs In-line 13mm diffuser.
For nano-med(50G) tanks I like to use diffusers to get a nice fine mist and the plants love it..
Your other option is a needle wheel pump, that has been a very promising way of diffusing co2...

When your feeding co2 into your tank your PH will drop. But keep in mind this will not harm fish in any way. It does not matter what fish you keep. I keep various sensitive fish and my ph is way low..
For your size tank a DIY reactor would be best. Check the attached photo.

Its a fun DIY project, and very easy to to build. If you cant find 5/8 nylon elbow hose barbs, try your local Ace Hardware. Many times the big box stores dont have funny stuff like that. The whole thing should cost about $11-15.
Make sure you build it long enough and use 2" pvc pipe. Most of the ones I build are 22-30". If you need help or have questions just ask..
