Post aeration

Do you need to provide aeration for your tank if there are plants?

Post Re: aeration

Well how planted are you talking?
How many fish are in there?

My 55 gallon 1/2 planted..well 3/4 now, has a lot of fish . Way more than 55 inches, in a 55 gallon. I dont use airstones but my dual magnum 350's are causing surface movement.

My fully planted tank has a nice amount of current, but not too much surface movement.Co2 is also added. This tank has a very light fish load as well.

When I didn't have a lot of plants in my 55 gallon, and the same amount of fish, I did need an additional airstone added, or my fish started gasping. Now they dont need it, even at night. 8)
