Re: Java moss dying! I have very hard water, and I grow plants without a problem.
My java moss also grows in all my tanks, and some of those have no co2, ferts added, or very good light(like 15 watt over a 10 gallon.) Mine was brown when I bought it, and now is a lush green in every tank.
Where is exactly is the moss(not that it should matter) Mine was tied at the bottom with a lead band, a placed it on the gravel, next to my wood.
My other tanks it near other objects.
It is right in the current of my full planted, yet shaded some from a bronze wendtii.
Try moving it out of maximum exposure from the intense light. It may do better in a shaded or subdued setting.
Yellowing can be from Potassium deficiency(a sign in new young leaves) Iron chrosis is from lack of iron and potassium, and our hard water doesn't help any.
If it is just the edges that are yellow, that can mean calcium deficiency.
Make sure you use a fert that has iron, potash, but you need the trace elements like nitrogen,Potassium,Phosphorus, calcium, magnesium,ma nganese, molybdenum.
Kents freshwater essential has this(except the nitrogen and phosphates) I am sure there are even better plants trace ferts, but I had this on hand.
