I don't think cherry barbs is what you have in mind. They are beautifully colored but very shy. They pretty much stay hidden so you don't get to see that color anyway. I would think they wouldn't be able to stand the aggression of the tiger barbs either.
My rams hang out just fine at a 78-79 degrees F.
