Just make sure that you are in control of your hobby, and that your hobby is not in control of you. If that happens it is time to downsize.

Also... if you are the type of person who really gets into a project and goes nuts with it (I'm that way), and then a few months or year later you aren't excited about it anymore then you want to slow down. Do not overdose of Fish Tanks. Take it easy and pace yourself.

And above all: do not let your hobby control you. At that point it is a stress and needs to be removed.
