And my desktop is 5 years old, and I'm able to process my photography without any issues. (Ok, the 1.3 ghz proc. makes it a bit slow when converting from RAW, but other than that lol) It even does fairly well with newish games like DOOM 3.
For less than 25% of the price of the beloved MACs, I can build me a new PC that would run circles around it. And with selective purchases from good manufactures, hardware can last for years. I recently pulled out a legacy sound card out of an old case that had been in my shed for two years in the summer, rain and winter. The card worked flawlessly. |
sure but the options in the power macs are almost endless too.. you can upgrade them to no end.. the video processing is unmatched.. and I bought my powermac g4 for 55.00.. put a faster dual processor in it.. 2 gb ram and I have 2 hard drives in it.. for under 200.00.. so I think that is a great deal. you only pay a ton for brand new macs.. you can look them up on ebay and craigslist.. and get them really cheap.
