I'm going by the LFS today. I will see what they have, can get, and what their opinions are on water quality/fish species/tank size. The place I'm going to is really good, but they don't have the widest selection in stock. That's not a problem as I'm early in the cycle and have plenty of time before the tank will be ready to add fish.
One question though. I noticed looking at the fish profiles that most of the shell dwellers prefer a sandy bottom. I have pea sized gravel in the bottom of the tank. How big of a problem is that? Can I simply add a thin layer of sand, or would I need to remove the gravel and replace it with sand?
