Africans will be nice but something to consider is the shape of the tank. Some of your Africans will be too big for a 29G tank and those that aren't stick towards the bottom of the tank. So if its activity and movement in the tank that you are looking for then Id go with Barbs. I would go with some Rosey (but only a few maybe like 1m/2f) some Tigers (and yes greens are apart of the same school) and maybe even some Cherry Barbs or Gold Barbs too. Just remember it is only a 29G tank so keep your numbers in check. On the other hand if you are looking for an 'oddity' or something you've never kept I would go with Shell Dwellers or something along those lines.
