I just picked up a 29 gallon tank and I have it cycling right now. When the cycle is complete I plan on stocking it with fish from the same region. My 55 gallon is moving towards a south american biotope with tetras and silver dollars (the rasboras are moving). I was considering barbs or cichlids.
If I go for barbs, I was considering a school of tigers and a scool of rosey barbs. These don't get too big. I do have some concerns with agression. Also, if I were to go with tigers, would the green tigers count as members of a school of regular tigers, or would they be their own school?
If I go with cichlids, are there any things that I should do with my water? The water here is VERY hard right from the tap. When I test it, it's always over 200 ppm. It is also alkaline, reading above 7.8 most of the time. And thirdly, I know they are territorial. So, how many could I put in a tank this small?
