Well if if there are no bite barks the barbs could still be chasing them and stressing them out. I have never had much luck keeping otos so I can't really tell you much, they tend to be sensitive to chemical changes in the water don't they? There are many reasons for behavior change, check your water params
I had a question not really related to yours. I have been told no to mix Africans with others, but no one has ever told me not to mix Asians and south south americans, thats what I am currently doing. There isn't a problem with that is there?
