Matt, I'm working on moving down around Charlotte, NC right now so maybe later this summer I can take a trip down your way and go collecting with you and see what we can find down that way.
Airborne, I don't recall your specific thread about taking stuff from the ocean, but I would say if your taking stuff from there and using fish from that same location then it wouldn't be an issue. If your taking stuff from there for a freshwater or a reef tank. I could see where there could be something harmful to those fish that aren't adapted to the conditions where you collect stuff for your tank.
I have had a few things die on me so far, but only one actually died on its own and that was the sunfish today that hadn't looked healthy since I got the fish. I was hoping that having it on a decent diet and stuff would bring it around but that didn't work out. The other fish that died mysteriously disappeared overnight and I'm pretty positive that the crayfish had something to do with that. I have since gotten rid of the cray so I shouldn't have anymore issues there. The fish that I have at the moment have tons of room to swim around and plenty of place to hide in and around the rocks and they seem to be doing well in their new home. I know they will eventually be needing a larger tank and I'm looking into getting one at the moment. They are fine for now and will soon be able to enjoy their nice new tank that should be anywhere for 75-120 gallons depending on what I'm able to find and what I'm able to fit when I move in the next couple of months. |
