I think Tom has mentioned that pool sand has a little darker look than play sand or I do believe the sand which I use that is a fine contracters sand. The sand I use is fairly bright. 50lb bag cost apx $3.50. Heres a pic of my 55 with sand and only one 2' light in the middle.
