But you can think of it this way too, using a PVC the length of the tank with holes along the PVC will decrease the total excessive current in the tank. So if you have a 48" tank, you don't need to use a 48" piece of PVC, but if it's a good 70% of the length of the tank, then you can set your hole size and distance between the holes to create the effect you want. Now I don't know how well the CO2 mist will reach the end of the tube, but you could use 2 powerheads with shorter PVC sections and split the CO2 between the 2, and get more even CO2 mist through the larger tank.
