The 20W bulb gives out approx. the same amount of light as a 75W incandescent bulb, but the only difference is that the CF bulbs are plant friendly, where the incandescents are useless for planted tanks. So if you light your room with the 20W bulb, it will be like using a 75W incandescent bulb. No gimicks.
