Well, I lost another fish last week - this time, one of my pristellas. I was a little concerned about what this might mean for the tank, but he was the one weakling of the first batch (and looked like he had scoliosis) so that could have been the cause. Actually, the more I've thought about it, the more I'm surprised he lasted this long - he was swimming funny for the first couple days, and although he seemed to recover for a couple weeks, I suppose it caught up to him eventually (whatever "it" was).
I didn't lose any more fish over the weekend, so my worries have subsided a bit. One of the three remaining rummies looks a little puny, so I may lose him - but the other two are growing and looking more robust by the day.
My green algae problem seems to have curbed itself to a manageable level, but thread algae has exploded a bit. A friend recommended getting a molly (I'm not getting more than one - no need for fry!) to eat it. Any other suggestions?
Due this week: water change, gravel vacuuming, and algae scrubbing...and perhaps even adding the jungle vals. |
