building tank stands isn't hard to do, but it's hard to do well, that's for sure. on the plus side, if you give it your bestest, you will probably come out with something ok, at least, and a 10 gallon isn't as heavy as a 55, = less risk and less damage if something does go wrong.

building a stand for my 20 long was my first attempt. my first piece of advice would be to make sure all your wood is straight and square (that's probably not correct woodworking terminology :P). if your wood's kinda warped, nothing you can do will make your stand sit level.

there are lots of good plans out there, you can just do a search for 'diy stand' or something and come up with a lot of pages. don't get intimidated though, some of those are superfancy
