To be technical sand is beneficial to plants because of the medium for their roots, but it does nothing other than provide a medium for their roots. It doesnt provide other essential nutrients they need unless its onyx sand. That was the point i was making and i see how it could cause some confusion. Ill edit it to make it more techincal.
