Blenny Sitting In A Tree

My Fish Tank - 49 Views No Comments »

So my sand eating blenny has been doing really well. His stomach is all big and round from the amount of algae I have in my tank (that’s what i get for not doing water changes often). it’s quite amusing how he tries to balance himself but b/c his stomach his so round, he can’t stay still and rocks and forth.

so the other day I was looking for him and found him trying to hide…

Can You Spot Him?

My Fish Tank - 148 Views No Comments »

I recently picked up a lawnmower blenny to help with some algae issues i have on my glass. I re-installed my skimmer so i hope that’ll help but wanted some additional help so i figured a lawnmower blenny would be a good addition.

so far he’s been great. great at eating sand. i think he’s a bit confused on what kind of fish he is. but in his defense, my sand was getting a bit of an algae growth on there and it’s better now. haha. now if i can get him to start eating the algae off the glass.

here’s a picture of him i took the other day. can you spot him? usually it’s hard for me to find him but now i know i can usually find him on the sand.

Silver Arowana Update

My Fish Tank - 641 Views 2 Comments »

So it’s been a little over a month since I got my silver arowana so I thought I’d share some pictures. It’s going quite well…I’ve noticed some fin issues so I try to keep it constant with a 10% water change every week and vacuum the gravel. Feeding-wise, I’ve stuck with the dried shrimp with about 4-7 pieces a day which he still attacks with much aggression.

Here’s a picture of him I got in mid-action. I was trying to snap another shot of him but he didn’t like it and in a flash (and a splash) he was on the other end of the tank. pretty amazing.

My Silver Arowana

My Fish Tank - 1,021 Views 6 Comments »

So my fish tank at the office was once filled with goldfishes. I either totally underestimated how difficult goldfishes were to keep or I just wasn’t meant to keep goldfishes. One day all of them would be happy and swimming around and then the next morning I would find most of them upside down.

So after a year or so of trying to keep goldfishes, I decided to trade in the only one I had left (trooper) for a silver arowana. I always wanted a red/gold arowana and although they are illegal, I’m sure you could find them if you looked hard enough. But they’re also super expensive running into the thousands of dollars for a single one. yikes! So since I never kept arowanas before, I decided to give one a try and went with the legal silver ones.

It’s about i’d say 4-5 inches long right now and they can supposely get HUGE. Like 46+ inches. That’s a big fish. Heck, it’s in a 48″ long tank so that means once it’s full grown, it would be almost as long as my tank? amazing! but ofcourse that’ll never happen as i’ll have to upgrade (oh no!) to a bigger tank. haha. It’s a matter of necessity. i HAVE to upgrade. haha. where to put the big tank? I’ll figure that out later. haha.

Goldfish Burned By Heater?

My Fish Tank - 1,384 Views 10 Comments »

I think I am just destined to not keep goldfish or something. I have the worst luck with them. The latest issue I have is with my big goldfish. I noticed this red mark on his body. I’m assuming he somehow touched the heater and got burnt. Does that look like a burn mark? Or is it something else?

ClownFish Eggs Again!

My Fish Tank - 1,366 Views 1 Comment »

clownfisheggs.jpgWoke up in the morning and first thing i always do is check on the tank. in my half-asleep state…i noticed something yellow where there shouldn’t be anything yellow. look closer and saw that my clownfish had laid eggs again!

This time they were in a better location..in the front part of the tank so I can look at the details more. I’ll get more pictures but when the lights turn on, the anemone’s cover it up (great hiding place!).

hope they continue to breed and I might even try to raise them. that would be a project.
